JUNE 10, 2008
The evening of the ING Run For Something Better® culminating event, middle schools from the San Francisco Unified School District gathered together for an awards ceremony to honor and thank the participating schools, their students and their teachers. This year, four of the ten middle schools who took part in the program received special recognition.
In their second year with the IRFSB program, Bessie Carmichael Middle School and IRFSB head teacher Rebekah Rothstein won the Orange Commitment award for demonstrating a new level of commitment to IRFSB. Everett Middle School took home the Running Forward Award after running a successful program in spite of many obstacles. Aptos Middle School — winner of the Endurance Award — exemplified the values and dedication of the IRFSB program to nearly 600 students. In their first IRFSB year, Francisco Middle School sent 300 students to the Golden Gate Park culminating event — earning them the Outstanding Newcomer Award.
Congratulations to the award winners as well as all the participating schools, teachers and students that made the IRFSB program so successful in San Francisco this school year.
