New York Road Runners Foundation - Mighty Milers:

The Mighty Milers is the New York Road Runners Foundation's running program.  The Mighty Milers is a school program promoting physical fitness to children during the school day.  The NYRRF works with the New York City Public School system in order to implement the running program.

ING sponsors 12 New York City schools within the Mighty Milers program where the students are running continuously throughout the school year.  The students in the Mighty Milers program participate in the ING Run with Champions culminating event, which is held in conjunction with the ING NYC Marathon.  Over 1,000 kids participating will run in age appropriate distances of 0.5 to 2 miles.  This event is held in Central Park during the week of the ING NYC Marathon.

City Parks Foundation - Summer Track and Field Program:

The IRFSB grants funds the City Parks Foundation summer track and field programs. Since launched, the CPF track and field running program services over 1,000 kids in more than 14 sites each summer. The program targets children between the ages of 5 and 16 years old.

City Parks Foundation implements a summer track and field program during a six week period in the summer.  The children participate in activities such as short distance runs, hurdles, javelin, shot put and long jump.  The CPF culminating event is held in Icahn Stadium on August 13th.
